I am considering asking for this camera for Christmas, and I was curious if anybody has any experience using this camera to photograph their fish? I wanted to get a rebel Xti but my parentals (who are paying for this camera) said no way. This seems like a good deal. Its got a great zoom and I can still fit it in my pocket. The only other digital I've ever owned was an old sony mavica that used floppy disks so I'm a bit out of date.

Ive checked dpreview and everyone seems to think its a good camera, with some users comparing picture quality favorable to their dSLRs. It doesnt have a hotshoe, but I'm told that the flash is quite a good one. Only other downside is that its ugly as sin as far as I can tell. any input would be appreciated!

The H3 should do OK for you. I have a friend that owns the H5 and he loves
taking it for travel. The one thing to watch for is slow recycle time with the
flash and keep the ISO set at 100, cuz anything above that introduces
noise. With the flash diffused with either plastic grocery bag or tissue, and
a slave flash over the tank (triggered by the camera flash) you should realize
some serviceable results. My choice in the Sony line is the DSC-V1 and DSC-V3,
both have hotshoes, too.
