i do not have a PS yet that i can use to work with RAW (NEF) pics, so i'm wondering-

what overall is the best kind i can purchase. i am looking for

1.- ease of use
2.- best quality software
3.- resonable price (haven't bought before) so really anything under $200-300, but i'm flexible.

i understand that the best overall quality that pro's use, will be sacrificeing much ease of use, to that of easier less advanced software, so i'm looking for my overall best options.

I use Corel Paintshop Pro. You can download a trial of it off of their website. It's pretty easy to use and fairly inexpensive.

I use Corel as well. It opens my raw files quite easily.

Gimp 2.4 with DCRaw. Lightroom is terrific for raw conversion, basic corrections and cataloging. It will work with Gimp for more complex editing also.Gimp is free, www.Gimp.org.

Photoshop...I think CS1 is the first one that has the RAW converter. I currently use CS2 and have no problems with the RAW converter that comes with it. I like it being so fluent with opening directly into Photoshop rather than having to batch it.
