What I really like about this photo is how the three main focus points, the "eyes", are almost perfectly aligned with the three thirds. This photo it a textbook crop and is exciting. The capture is ALIVE and goes far and above a nice clean profile shot.

Bobby, great job.

Thanks to all the APF members who casted their vote for this image. The subjects in this photo are the real winners here. And I have to thank maddog10 for providing the opportunity to photograph his beautiful pikes.;)

As Ed mentioned, the eye of this fish was really nailed well. When I reviewed my files and saw how the eye played so well with the caudal spots of the two fish, I felt it was kinda special.

I shot this photo on an assignment for an article of Michael Hill's (maddog10) fish room. Mike may attest that I was absolutely drawn to his pikes. I shot about fifteen takes of this tank alone.

The photo was made using the Nikkor 60mm AF f/2.8 on the D200. Using a single (I think) SB800 over the tank pointing down and firing in Commander Mode in the D200 flash menu with the pop up flash to serve as the master.

I was pleased with the lighting and exposure. Because of the size of the tank, the flash cone was perfect for making the subject "spot lighted" and allowing the background to stay dark. I used very little post processing in CS2 with this image. Levels, Curves, and Unsharped Mask sharpening was the extent of pp. Also may have done a tad of cropping too. But, with fish this size, usually what you see is what is in the frame.

Thanks again everyone who voted. And thanks to Rich, Ed, and Jeff for your kind comments.:-)

Hi!
A really wonderfull picture!
What i liked about it,is that these 2 fish are seems to be swimming in mirror position!
For the rest the picture is very sharp, and the dark background makes this even better.
Good luck! Willy,Holland
