Pre-Photokina: After a steady trickle of leaks and rumors Nikon has announced the successor to its popular D80 middleweight digital SLR in the shape of the D90. The D90 looks very similar, but underneath it's a completely new camera that's inherited advanced features from Nikon's pro models and user-friendly features from the D40/D60 range. Oh, and it's the world's first digital SLR with a movie mode. Oher features of note include a new 12.3 MP CMOS sensor, the D3/D300/D700's fab high resolution 3.0-inch screen. live view and continuous shooting at up to 4.5 frames per second.

You might want to consider getting a video unit instead of upgrading if you're looking for video capabilities and you've just gotten into a D80.

I know that's true; i think the only diff between the 2 is the vid capabilty.....

Well, there's more than that. The D90 has the cmos sensor, which some consider an improvement over the ccd sensor, it has a 3" screen on the back, it has live view, and has a bit of a faster shutter mechanism, but otherwise, it's fairly similar.

Getting mine soon. It has the D300 sensor. :-o High ISO performance, here I come!
ADR lighting. Less blown highlights and lost shadow detail. Less need to HDR YAY! er...not especially useful for fish photography but great for outdoors and difficult lighting! Maybe when the fish swims too close to the flash...
Video feature is cool for the blogger in us. [or youtuber ]

I will! I will! I read it's great for MF lenses with video. Good for the macro guys who can then do both video and still. WOOT! Great to have lenses that have the on/off manual AF and aperture ring. Less controlwith those 'G' lenses. [sleepless till it gets into my hands]
