Looks like the rumors were right this time, Meriadoc. (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0408/04081909canon_eos20d.asp) Guess they were keeping this one extra quiet... (although Phil laments the leaks from lesser sources, not bound by NDAs), but just goes to show that it is important to pay attention to the rumor mill. Instant-on, improved drive, and new AF-system look awesome...

Canon Speedlite 580EX
Introduced at the same time as the EOS 20D the new Speedlite 580EX which has several advanced digital features including; Zoom linked to sensor sizes (takes into account the FOV crop caused by a D-SLR sensor) and AWB switched to flash WB (causes the camera to switch to flash WB in certain circumstances). In addition there is also a new battery belt pack for faster recharge and longer life.

yawn - no need to gloat dude. 8)
but remember - there have been rumors for months and months (even into last year) that there would be digital equivalent of the EOS 3 - but this ain't it ;)
just a few upgrades from the 10D - of course, i'm already trying to get my hands on one (or at least coerce the husband to let me get one) - mainly because of my wildlife work that I do.
all I said was never take what the rumor mills say as gospel - they've been wrong before :P

Well. I've placed my order for the Canon 20D and the Speedlite 580EX. That's pretty much validates the rumors being true. Expecting to collect the set from end Sep to mid Oct. Can't wait!

Why don't you place an order. Stocks are expected to be scare again, like the 10D when it was launched. I know some shops can't even get their hands on them.
Use the lead time till delivery to work your charms on him. If that fails, sell the 300D and top up the difference.

Great new Benny. I can't wait to see the results with 580EX. I enjoyed my 420EX, I can only imagine 580 :shock:
I think the Auto WB function on the flash will save me hours!!

So, how's this camera??....I"ve heard alot of good things about it and am thinking of getting the 20D as my next camera....quite the upgrade from what I have now.....been going back and forth between the digital rebel and this...I don't make alot as a photographer, I've made anywhere between 50 and 125 a shooting bands, and so I have a few more shows to book before I'll even beable to get a new camera...and I go to college, so that's nice and pricy. :p....but I want to make sure that I get a good camera that's good for what I do, cause the lumix...not *extremely* great for concerts...but not bad.(thank God)
