Please describe your lighting and the size of the tank. Usually the problems consist of not enough lighitng on the tank, which makes the camera use really slow shutter speed, which blurs the picture. Also, it's harder to focus on objects that are not well lit. The lighting you have may be enough for looking at fish, and may even seem bright, but for the camera you need Wattage AND spectrum (daylight). So, please let us know how much watts and what kind of bulbs and any other info you can provide.

well, i don't knw much about my light, it's a JBJ lighting, flourescent bulbs... the tank is a 20gal high..

this is my far yet best picture, it was with flash, but everytime i take picture with flash the flash seems to cover up the whole fish

Yes, flash will destroy the color on the pic.

What kind of JBJ fixture, is it Flourescent (Thick bulbs) or Power compact Flourescent (thin bulbs, usually paired up). What 's the name of the fixture, JBJ makes several : Formosa .....

Also look at the bulb, and give me as much info from it as you can, usually from the endcap which it uses to attach to the fixture. Wattage, type (10,000K, Actinic, Daylight>....)

it's 55 watts two bulbs, one blue actinic and one clear flourescent

So you have 2 x 55watts Compact flourescent (they dont make 55w reg. flourescent as far as I know, and jbj mostly uses compact these days). That should give you a LOT of light, Try making the room around as dark as possible (PITCH black), do it at night, and turn all the lights on. And try to take pics w/out flash. Another suggestion, which may help your plants too. You can go to any LFS or online, and order another 10k daylight bulb, and replace the actinic one out (it's only good for saltwater). You will get anothe boost in lighting and your plants will love it. I did that w/my JBJ setup.

so i should just get the same clearish bulb? and my blue actinic is only good for saltwater tanks?

alright, do you know where i can get the 10k daylight bulb? i'd have to see my jbj model so that i can get the right size so that it'll fit..

thanks para..

hey man

The 55w bulbs are all the same size, (at least as far as I know). I would check locally or buy online, there are lots of places that have them online. just search for JBJ 55w bulb. Make sure to buy the Daylight bulbs. Solid white. You can also prob. sell the blue one on ebay or something. Unless you want to do a SW tank in the future then you'll need it.

i like useing the "DRACO FISH" way useing a halogen shop light instead of flash but i will soem time borrow mt 2x55 watter off my 25 and use that or grab a few flashes and use them for lighting period :)
