During conversation with Benny about my D70 setup, question about Battery Grip came up. I decided to do some research.

Good news - 3rd party grip should be coming out this month, hopefully.

Nice to see it coming out for you nikonians :) My grip for my d-reb was shipped today... should come in handy for trying to avoid poor camera technique... I just can't get used to trying to "tuck in" while shooting portrait/vertical... the shutter button is just in the wrong place for us who have larger hands and longer fingers! The grip should fix that!

Just quick update for Nikon D70 owners.

The VG-D70 (grip) is much closer. I emailed Deborah from Harbortronics and I was informed that we should be getting more news in 1st quarter of 2005.

Keep your finger crossed.

problem is, i believe your body needs to be sent in for an alteration, which voids the warrantee.

If I read things right, You don't need the alteration, but can use an opto coupler to fire the camera throught the remote sensor

that seems ghetto bootleg. i'd rather have the half press option. i may pick one up just to have it tho.

Ghetto bootleg ?

This company is legit and has been working with Nikon to make it available to consumers. Unfortunately Nikon said no b/c they want D70 to stay as cheap DSLR alternative and if one wants the GRIP, you need to dish out money for D100, D_ line or wait for D200.

This company is legitI can confirm that! I have the digisnap for my coolpix 995 and I am very happy with that. I don't know what "ghetto bootleg" means ...

ghetto bootleg company = black market company. Can't believe that is true for harbortronics. They make great third-party accesories for great camera brands...

Peter,

What I was saying is that Harbortonics in my opinion is a good company, NOT ghetto bootleg. :)

lol. don't take it personal. i'm sure they are a very reputable. my choice of words catches people off guard a lot of the time. i'm talking about the remote wire. i think that a wire going around from the grip to in front of the remote sensor sounds a little chauncey. (yes i know i make up my own words sometimes) . i am very interested to see how it looks, and also how well it fits etc... i would love to send my camera in for a socket or whatever it was they do - but i have this awesome 2 year replacement/give you the next best thing or your full money back warrantee that starts after the manufacturer warrantee is up. i think if the remote option had a half press function it would be a lot better.

Hehe, not taking anything personal. Just did not really understand the words... English is not my native language...

Anyway, we are 15 minutes away from the new year overhere, so I'll (have to  ) log off now. See you guys next year! Have a great new year to you all!

It's ALIVE

A lot of people are not too happy but judge for yourself.

would be interesting if they could add aperture/shutter dials using the usb connector(nikon capture can control aperture/shutter through this.

check this out.
