I don't always look at the posting dates and I have been finding that many of the posts on the board are old and no longer vaild, being used or useful. In some case it has caused some problems.

I think it woudl be a great idea if you made an archive type place where all the old posts could be placed so that we could make room for the new and make sure none of us started up old posts especially if they were no longer valid and what not.

The reason we dont have an archival folder is because our site is very much INFORMATION based, every topic should be somewhat useful to a new user, without Necessarily a need to post a comment. Many new users (majority) never post but still get a great benefit by reading the threads and getting the information that helps them achieve that goal of taking better pictures. Archiving the threads would create a lot of extra folders that are not necessary.

Also, the site is only 1 year old, there is not really enough threads to need an archival system. We dont even have the purge ON, as it would accidentally delete OLD but HIGHLY useful threads. And it looks much better for a new forum when there is a LOT of threads, even if some are old. I dont have a big problem yet with my database size, that WILL become a problem in a few years and I will deal with it then.

It's REALLY not difficult to see when the post was posted, it's RIGHT there next to the name of the initial poster. It's also useful to see the timestamp of the last reply, to see if the thread is still active or if it's pretty much died down.
