APF POTM System Discussion Thread!!!

Please help us make our POTMs better. We have had a dysmal participation rate in the last few month, while the traffic, posting, and new memberships have all increased dramatically. Something is not working and we need your help.

Please give us ideas, whatever they may be. They will be discussed here.

We have already been discussing the following topis and feel free to add to those, or give us any other Fresh ideas:

1. Voting system, figuring out a way to implement a system similar to CF where each picture gets a Score (1-10) instead of a "one favorite pic".

2. Prize support. Through donations, merchandise purchase (I am working on the merchandise part right now) or Sponsorships (difficult to obtain).

Anything else???

how about a point system that allows you to number pictures in the order in which you like them, and then total the number at the end. it would probably have to be set up in a way that you HAVE to give all photos a rank, to allow a vote to be cast at all. err, i don't know if that is possible or even reasonable, just throwing out ideas. of course you would have to either make it so that the lowest number wins -- or give 10 points for #1 and 1 for #10 etc.

How about the last winner must refrain from participating for one month? And the winner's vote will carry twice the weight the following month? Just a wild thought.

benny, we have talked about "last winner" thing, but in a year, it's only happened ONCE that the same person won twice in a row (damn plecos :) ), and it's impossible (so far in our system) to asign different weight to different votes.
