Wow!! I see I just became a member rather than a junior member. I suppose this is based on posting activity. I suddenly became active recently after several months hiatus.
I have always been a bit mislead by 'junior member' which is used widely on boards. To me it suggests a special membership for teens or pre-teens, and when I see 'junior member' on a post my default reaction is that this is someone who is 13 years old. Maybe you should borrow a title from the Russian Academy of Sciences and call newbies Candidate Members, or maybe you shouldn't, only an idle thought.

The Kapenta Kid,
You just became Junior Member again.
Please don't get caught up with User Titles and Ranks issue. I see a lot of members on other forums giving suggestions and stressing the Ranks issue, which in my honest opinion is useless and a lot of times misleading. I don't want people looking at X member's Post # and having perception that he is THE PRO b/c he posted or replied 1000 times on given forum. We want all members to feel equal.
Those who went above and beyond, helped a lot of new-commers, helped initiate new projects and clearly presented good background photography knowledge, got promoted and became Advice Team. We appreciate their help and respect their knowledge. At the same time knowledge is not everything and with online communities communication is extremely important. One might have all the knowledge in the world but if you don't know how to share it, you are not fully utilizing it.

Agreed, Kid, the Junior, Senior thing is just a standard feature of the board. It's not set up by us even. I personally dont like it. On the old board we had points, phish which were displayed to show participation. With this new versions this was something we conciously got rid of. The members who participate and show knowledge are "promoted" to the Advice Team, and many later become MODs (see the announcement later today), the rest are just members helping members. I need to find the whole jr./sr. bit and chuck it out of the window. Look for it to happen this week :)

1. APF Member
2. Advice Team
3. MOD Team
4. Administrator

Aaargh. When you're up to the neck in it, don't open your mouth!!
Seriously I agree entirely, everyone who registers should be a member or whatever one wants to call being a member--something wrong there. Those who really contribute above and beyond the call of duty are clearly advisors or admins or mods or whatever. I visit enough boards to know that titles awarded on the frequency of posting only attracts dingbats, and this board ain't immume either.

Agree. Ignore the dingbats and they go away. I hated the Jr. Sr. thing, and you gave me a reason to wipe it with my mighty sword (cheesy, I know, but it fits) :)
