I have been reading and internally debating between the EOS 300D vs D70. With the canon triple rebate, I figured I should take advantage of the savings and I could always upgrade the body down the road. Plus, I feel the 'HACK' could make some plausable upgrades to get me by (i.e., shutter lock).! I am about to purchase the EOS 300D and the following from B & H (Is this the best place and
prices that you would recommend?):

Canon USA MT-24EX Macro Twin Lite Ringlite Flash
Our Price
$649.95 - $50 (rebate) = $599.95
Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II
Our Price
$129.95
Canon USA Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM Autofocus Lens
Our Price
$579.95 - $75 = $504.95
Canon USA Telephoto EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Autofocus Lens
Our Price
$469.95 - $60 = $409.95
Canon EOS Digital Rebel (a.k.a. 300D), 6.3 Megapixel, SLR, Digital
CameraOur Price
$ 819.95 - $300 = $519.95

Sub-Total = $2,649.75 - ($50+$75+$60+$300 = $485 Rebate) =
Total = $2164.75

I would like to try the extreme macro - EF 65mm 1X-5X someday.

Thanks,

David

What protective carrying case/bag is everyone using? I'm looking for something that obviously protects the camera, but is small and as stylish as possible. Where did you get it and how much does it cost? One last thing. Which memory card would you suggest; the Sandisk 2GB Ultra II CompactFlash Card Price: $184.95?

TIA,

David

David,

I let our "canon" specialists answer your canon picks.

Carrying case:
I would suggest small bag for camera w/ lens and flash for short/local trips and another bigger bag for your "entire" equipment: few lenses, tripod, filters, flash, batteries and other misc gadgets for long/hiking trips. I have 2 bags and I'm extremely satisfied with them.

I will suggest buying either:

CompactFlash Card:
Sandisk 2GB Ultra II is probably one of the best choices you could have picked. I was going to suggest Sandisk 1GB Ultra II but if you have enough $ for 2G, go for it.

Good luck :wink:

the 300D does not benefit from high speed cf cards, so any normal cf card will do. (ie: 25x-40x).
