I currently have Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition (came with my first digital camera, I believe). My father-in-law just gave me a copy of Photoshop Elements 2.0. What's the difference?

On the inside flap of the Elements box, it promotes Photoshop 7.0 as delivering "professional productivity and advanced precision tools." I'm confused as to why it would promote another software -- even one within its own "family."

Does anyone have any experience with this? I haven't installed Elements yet. Should I?

Well I think Adobe sells (or gives away) elements as a "you know you will want to upgrade" version. Many decide that the additional features in PS are what they need and will upgrade. It's a brand thing. You are more likely to upgrade to Photoshop than to Paint Shop Pro if you already like the Inexpensive Elements, because you know the features will be improved but yet the learning curve is much smaller. I am positive they see every Elements User as a potential PS license.

You can install both version on your system and try it. Whatever you don't like, you can uninstall it later.

Cheers,
