read the review and it looked OH! so good, then read the Digital Rebel review and now I am confused, those are the two I am thinking of switching to from my 717 if I sell it.

One good thing is Sony finally compromise to commercial. They no longer "stick" to the memory stick and accept CF card Type II.

Not that it really matters, but I've heard that Sony Digitals really aren't the megapixel that they say they are. Is this true? Either way, the number to me is irrelevant, the Sony's take AWESOME pics.

No, the MP number is correct. I am looking to buy the 828 or the Digital Rebel by Cannon. I am selling my 717 if anyone is interested, in the buy/sell folder.

Ive very happy with it. Much better than my 717. The larger pics are much more clearer and crisp, and the macro gets more detail. I have taken hundreds of pics of my Trophs with the 717 and was never to get the detail that I got on this pic using the 828(in less than 30 pics)...

Heres a large pic of one of my Tropheus. The picture looks unbelieveable at 1024x768...

Im buying a close up lens from Sony, so maybe i can get much closer

are you using your flash for those pictures?

in the two posted above, yes, they were taken with a flash. I find it hard to get a pic of Tropheus without it as they are constantly moving 100MPH.

I'm returning my Leica towards the shop because of some issues. I will be buying a new digital camera. It's a head to head deadmatch between Eos 300 D (Digital Rebel) and the 828. On the moment I'm heading more towards the Canon (with a fixed lens 50 mm f 1,8 in order to realize enough light)

Doesn't the 300D (Digital Rebel) comes with a EF 18-55 mm lens as a kit set? That should be a better deal.

Cheers,

Well, I mean with the kit lens and as an addition a 50 mm f 1,8. I have been looking around a bit on the net, I'm considering a EOS 10Ds as well. The only problem is that at the moment, photography equipment is > 40 % cheaper in the states than in Europe. [smilie=censored.gif]

It's even cheaper in Asia. I do see a lot of European (especially UK) tourists stocking up on electronics when they come to Asia. Was told that for certain items, the savings is worth more than their airfare here.

Cheers,

Problem is, what to do with warranty claims.
I've returned my camera for the third time now, it would become a bit to expensive. I'm considering purchasing my lenses on-line, given the same differences apply and warranty is much less an issue

I suppose you could get one with an international warranty. Then that'll solve the problem?

My Belgium colleagues all get their equipment in Asia. And they do buy quite a fair bit. I suppose it must be worth their while.

Cheers,
