Well, I finally found time to sit down and take pictures of my constantly establishing 30g. The only problem is, I can't seem to capture most of their vivid colors. I don't know wether it is my camera (Sony DSC-V1) or me. I think it is a mix of both.

I've tried with tripod, w/o tripod, and all different shutter and aperature settings. These two were the best I could get...

Any help would be great! (stupid photobucket sized my first picture down though)


The coral is a flourescent green, almost glowing.

tried post processing like increasing the saturation a wee bit?

Pyro, it's not a bad picture, I dont know what it looks like in real life, but did you resize it down (2nd one) from the original camera file? if yes, you forgot to sharpen up a bit. Also, there are some things you can fix in post to make it look right, just gotta remember to NOT overdo it.

The 2nd one was cropped and then resized to 500px wide. I did not sharpen it, but it wasn't the clearest picture to start with, I'll try that.

I did up the saturation a wee bit, and even put a wee bit of green on the color balance with photoshop. Should I "spot" sharpen it with the sponge or similar on just the coral? If I up the saturation anymore the rocks don't look like they do in the tank.

...Ok. I saturated just the coral using the sponge tool and that helped. I still can't get the green in the coral though without making my rocks look green (moreso than they already are). Any way I can change the color "tint" on only a certain spot in photoshop 7.0?
