I have been hanging out on Nikon forums and I have to say that my $ bar went up recently. I started thinking about D2X and lenses like 300mm or 200-400mm and other big boys.

D200 money is already waiting on the shelf and burning. Can't wait.

Haha...that sounds very excruciating. All show and no go, at least for the moment. I've been drooling over both the D2X and the 200-400 VR lens after seeing the results, but talk about breaking the bank.

i can't justify it until my kid is old enough to give me some spare time. he's 1 1/2 yrs right now so i don't get a lot of time to go shoot. i think i have enough stuff to hold me over for the moment.

There is a guy on Nikon Forum which I frequent who sold his 200-400 and purchased 500mm. I'm scared to look at his new pictures. He was top notch bird shooter.

Jay, are you referring to Jim Fenton from FM?

Some of the works from this lens has been amazing. Can't wait to see what he posts with the new lens.

Yes it is Jim but I don't frequent FM. I don't like their forum software.

The 500mm is one hell of a sharp monster. I have a few friends using this lens and have their pictures posted on my site. I can only say, I am really impressed by the sharpness.
