Hi all!

Q1: How good is this flash?

I'm really keen into setting up those Master-Slave configurations for taking photos of my fish.

I'm gonna get an SB-800 soon, and will be using it as a Master Flash - to communicate to the slave (say the SB-50DX or SB-600) via Infrared.

Q2: When using the SB-800 as a Master Flash on the hotshoe, the wireless Slave is controlled via Infrared right? Does that mean that we cannot have anything blocking the 'line of sight' of the SB-800 to the wireless Slave?

Thanks in advance!

FYI: I've just got a offer for a 2nd-hand used flash - the Nikon SB-50DX. He's offering it at RM500 (that's about USD 130). The Nikon SB-800 will cost me about RM1,500 / USD400 here, with the SB-600 at RM900 / USD230.

Q1: How good is this flash? For film rather good, for digital rather useless. I had one, but sold it after buying my D70. I have a SB-800 now.

It will only act as a real slave, thus responding to the main flash and just flash full, or whatever you set it to. But if it could, you would have to have line of sight or some pretty reflective material to "bend" the light.

Thanks for the reply.

Haha, guess I'll be getting the SB-600 (after the SB-800) after all. Now, gotta start saving for the SB-600. :P
