Can anyone tell me how to retain exif data when processing NEF (nikon raw) images in photoshop? jpeg works fine, but it seems like for RAW images, photoshop strips them clean. I know there are other programs out there that can probably read exif data for NEF files - but i'd really like to be able to get it straight out of photoshop.

That's really odd, I can't find any posts on the Adobe forums that refer to this problem.

the only way i've been able to retain exif data is to convert to jpeg with nikon capture before i use ps.

Have you tried to see if .TIFFs will work.

yah, i think it's a problem with my raw plugin for photoshop or something. if i open the file in nikon capture, then save as jpeg - and then use ps then the exif data is preserved. this was my test subject.

I think I found your answer - according to many users in the Adobe forums, Nikon software installs a Nikon plug-in in Photoshop that conflicts with the Adobe CR plug-in. The problem is fixed by deleting the Nikon plug-in from the Adobe plug-ins folder.
