Any of you guys tried cleaning a CCD or CMOS on your cameras. I have a few specs of dust that appear on my photos no matter which lens i use, I take it that it is the CCD that has dust on it.

well, i haven't had to use any type of cleaner on my sensor yet, but i have had dust specs on it several times. i basically used the mirror lock up function (available only for cleaning on the d70 -.-) and basically blasted the sensor with canned air. a few short blasts should remove any loose dust.

Thanks, hir0, i'll give that a try.

The guy in the camera shop said it would be best to send the camera off to Canon!!! Thats the last thing i want to do - you loose your camer for 4 weeks and tehy charge a fortune - best part of £100 to replace the compact flashdoor on a 10D!!?!!

yah, i'd try blasting it. works like a charm for me. camera shop guys will say anything they feel like saying when you ask them. tomorrow he'll probably tell someone else to use sensor swabs. not all camera store people of course. :) honestly, if you needed to swab the sensor that might be a different story. i might opt not to try that myself. actually, i probably would -.- but blasting it is no harm. just hold the can upright so no liquid shoots out. and only a few short blasts should do it.
