I have been offered a Nikon D100 for a VERY nice price!
Now i want some input on this cam. I know its a very good camera! (PRO class?)

What do YOU think about it?

Great camera, IMO. Got to play around with one before I picked up my D70, which belong to a friend of mine (also walked away with his 75-300mm, which I still need to return, haha). Good workhorse and talk about a hefty camera.

Given that though, I still went for the D70. The new technology (especially the flash system) really makes it worth it. Just depends on what you want more. The ruggedness of the D100 or the speed/new technology of the D70 (faster write time to cards, especially during bursts). Also, take into account that Nikon produces a battery grip for the D100, whereas the D70 are being equipped with aftermarket grips.

i would pick a d70 over the d100 also, sheerly for the ittl.

Roy,

I was going to pick D100 instead of D70. Two things made me pick D70.

#1. Commander Mode in D70 (You will LOVE this feature). Canon users have to invest in ~200-300$ (?) gadget to have the same option. D100 doesn't have it.

#2. Flash sync 1/500 in D70 instead of D100 1/250.

There were few more items in D70 that I liked better. But at the same time there were some features in D100 that were more exciting --> Grip.

Good luck.

The thing is that i cant afford D70 at this moment,(Otherwise i would buy D70) and probably can`t in a loooong time.
So i guess the D100 will do for a few more years, then i guess i`ll be buying a D200 or something when i have the $$$ ;)

One thing`s for sure, i`m getting Nikon!
Because i have access to several lenses, flashes, slaveunits etc. that i can use anytime.

With the D100 i will also get a voigtlander lens, dont remember the specs rigth now, but i`ll get back on that later today.

EDIT: I think it`s a Voigtlaender Ultragon AF 19-35mm F3.5-4.5
Not to impressive, but a really nice lense for allround use.

Good choice either way Roy. I'm just wondering what kind of a deal you are getting if D70 is too expensive :-o

I have been using the D100 for years and though I have to agree that it doesn't really fill the need in my current scope of photography (in term of fps and buffer), it has really serve me well.

It will still remain as my main workhorse until I get my pro body (in which he will retires to be my backup body) :-O

Lense is changed though. I`ll get a Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC instead...
Really great lense, i tried it yesterday and that zoom is awesome.

Spent my Friday snapping some testshots. Still need a lot of practise on the aquatic pic`s so i`ll hold them back for a while :)

This butterfly always closed his wings when i got close, exept once when he was sitting on a woodboard :(

And a tiny flower to end this...

Some are a little blurry/soft due to the 125mm focal length and the lack of tripod that day.

EDIT:
EXIF around
F7-8
1/60 - 1/80sec
ISO data is missing ? Maybe because i was shooting in Aperature mode ?
Guess 200-400

Better than my first macro tries! (Which I've only done once...so, I'm impressed)

ISO is missing when shooting in JPEG, you got to shot in RAW for that :)

Thanks :) Wish i had a dedicated lense. Macro can sure be a lot of fun! (Been looking at the same lens you`ve got actually)
