Hi guys,

Not sure if you guys noticed this little gem from Pentax that was launched in Jan 05.

http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/product/OptioWP.lg_01.jpg

5 megapixel with 3 X optical zoom, but more importantly...

The JIS Class 8 waterproof rating confirms the OptioWP will remain watertight even when the camera is used in water.*

*The OptioWP may be submerged and operated up to five feet underwater for up to 30 minutes.

The start-up time of the OptioWP is less than a second (0.6) and the shutter release time lag is 0.05 seconds. This will surely make it suitable for true aquatic photography? More details here (http://www.pentaximaging.com/products/product_details/digital_camera--OptioWP/reqID--6442215/subsection--optio).

hmm... very tempting indeed.

Cheers,

looks like it's just for snorkling "just under the water surface" according to them. :)

Could help reduce reflection from the tank glass :) but you may end up with a wet head..lol

apparently the store I work at sells them. Nice and all, but I'm still yet to see one at the store.
