More POTM voting suggestion

A suggestion to help get more folks to vote on the POTM contests.

Perhaps if the large ad for the POTM (that is predominant on the home/portal window) would be updated, folks wouldn't have to surf the site to find the current entries. :confused:

Some members may go there looking to vote on the new entries and discover the same photos and results from two months ago. :-o Rather than looking for the current months pix, they may just put it off till later. And then not get around to it.

Bobby, it's a good one. I am actually looking right now for a good designer to create banners for all our "contests" incl. quote me, snap, twist, potm and any others to put on an upcoming Forum Index Side bar, that will make it much more visible, we've been talking about it but need some pro looking graphics.

The Portal links to the POTM area, the same as the Navigation bar on top of the forum, and you can see the past contests, and the new one when it's up. I also put up a Sticky, and send out a newsletter (did you get one today) by email announcing the beginning of the POTM. Also, it shows the start and end dates in the "Calendar Events" On the bottom of Who's online.

What else?? Ideas are VERY welcome from everyone.

Ed, the email is what got me thinking about it. I have no problem now that I know which shortcut to take (I take the POTM on the navigation bar route). I just was thinking that the "banner type" announcement is the most predominant and maybe should be updated including the new pix.

Glad you guys are already on top of it. I'm not surprized :-D

yep, we have talked about it. I really want someone w/graphic arts background to help me out with designs of the banners. They need to be square, about 135 pixels wide. Maybe Jay will use the POTM Winner model to create the ones for this.

Ed - I've got a GA/GD background. Actually, GA/GD and pre-press if you ever decide to take this to print ;)

Lisa, I would like to talk to you about print, for my own stuff I am trying to put together, but that is a totally different conversation, but if you want to try and help out with some graphic banners I would really appreciate it. What we need are graphics to make people interested. They are for:

- POTM (Photo of the Month Contest)
- SNAP (So Not Aquatic Photography Exercise)
- TWIST (The Way I See This Exercise)
- QUOTE ME Exercise

Can you come up w/some ideas maybe we can put something together. Keep in mind it will be a sidebar on the Forum Index page, something similar to:

So, this size images are probably great for banners, something that blends at the edges into the background like these do is awesome
