AS much as I loved ya, you were just too slow.. so I had to make way for another lens...
course, I still don't know which one...
canon 85 1.8 or canon 200 2.8L...
decisions decisions
i take it you rely on autofocus? anyways i'd go with the 200!

can't focus fast enough manually for pet portraits ;)

Hmm... I hardly use Autofocus, even for fishes, be it big or small.
If I had to choose, I will go with the 85 F1.8 and maybe a 135 F2. The 200 F2.8 will be useless once you get your 70-200 (which I'm sure it's on your list).

maybe, although I much prefer primes for some things..
but yes, the 70-200 is on my list since i can get it $300 less than retail (don't ask)
but I still love my primes.. and I did fall in love with it.. I fear I have L glass fever now...
Ditto on the 85mm, especially if you do have your mind on the 70-200mm. The 85mm makes a great portrait lens.

In this case, I recommend the EF 85 mm F1.2 L USM. Excellent when you consider the 1.6 X crop factor.

Nope, I got the 200 2.8 L instead ;)
That's 200 X 1.6....an effective focal length of 320 mm. Pet portrait for afar? Not impossible I suppose.
Cheers,
i guess now you need a 500d for closeups (if you do them)

I do most of the time (fishes), but not always ;-)

benny, I was actually wishing that my 105 was longer when I did this last time.. they're curious little critters, and the further I am away, the better, although the minimum focus is a little over 4 feet, so really its not that far ;)
