A boring profile shot, but I'll try getting things technically right before I start doing those cool action shots.
How's this?

getting better. a little soft, but i guess it's probably your aperture judging by the DOF. what are your settings for this?

ISO200, 1/50, f/4,5@70mm
yah, shooting wide open with the kit lens will result in somewhat soft photos. once stopped down to about f8 it's pretty sharp.

I still think its too noisy, but i cant really understand that @ISO 200 ??
Sorry for being critical on that all the time, but noise is one thing i really hate..
Espesially since my Sony has lots of it from ISO 200 and up!
i don't think it's overly noisy, just a little soft. the noise here is because of low light levels. anyways i hope you don't mind i did a little sharpening for comparison.

It's indeed much sharper, but now it's a little noisy. Though better than mine. USM?
yah i know it's noisy. made a duplicate layer, did some usm, erased all but the fish, merged visible layers, made duplicate layer, did gausian blur, erased fish, merged visible layers :)

That's a lot of work, but good job :)
Great idea to use layers when doing noise reduction! Why didn't I think of that?
Get ridd of the annoying noise while still keeping the sharpness on the subject.

LOL, layers are the only way to go :) Just gotta be careful to erase properly, or you will see the spots. Zoom into the fish and use the scroll bars to go around it.
