Uhm, how does this shot look? Used the internal flash. Convinsing myself more and more to buy a SB-800.

DO IT!!! :) :)

no, seriously, though, That photo is good, but it lacks that "crispness" that you can ONLY get w/flash. It took me a long time as everyone knows to do it, but once I did it, I literally have not taken a single shot w/out it. :) Specially since your camera can control it w/out any other devices or cords, you are lucky. I had to spend $180 to do it.

Next time I'm downtown I'm going to hit my LCS to see if I can get a deal. I've spendt lot of dough there so they better be nice :)

Aquatic is the main reason for the external flash, but the more I snap the more I realise it would be nice not only for this, but for still life/studio and portraits. Amongst much more.

Take it from another someone who was reluctant to get the remote flash. I spent a couple hundred dollars on additional tank lighting before I bought the SB800. Wasted money. I shoot without it occasionally, and I say to myself. "why are you wasting your time?". I'm getting another one soon, so I can have multiple light setups. You'll love it. Like Ed said, DO IT! :-D

Similar sentiments as the others. Great speedlight and perfectly matched with the D70 (one of the selling point of the camera is the advanced flash system). You can use it for other things other than fish photography also where the onboard flash won't suffice.

Taken at a Willie McGee Fdn. fundraiser this last weekend.

do it Alexander. you won't regret it. Flash is soooo useful. especially for fish photography.
regarding this photo, i think it's a very good shot. it's very diffused and it looks good. But as Ed mentioned, you'll have a tough time getting a photo as crisp and clean as when you use flash. if you have really really bright tank lighting, enough to allow you to stop down to about f11 or smaller and still maintain good shutter speeds.... not to mention you cannot take your tank lighting to the LFS and take shots like Ed.

As I said, today I'll go down and see if I can get it cheaper than it is.
That flash is really expensive in Norway :-O

But I know I'm getting one sooner or later, all you can do is speed up the process, which you allready have :)

I managed to get 50$ off, but that's not enough considering what I could get it for in the U.S.
I've sendt a mail to Adorama asking if they're shipment and stuff comes toll free.

If so I'll strike.

i checked it out, added to cart and changed the country to norway (appears it is available). the only downside is that it says $45 for shipping

Grand Total $354.95 - is this comparable to the cost in Norway? B&H is pretty much the same, about $5 cheaper for USPS. I wonder if it really costs that much to ship over there. maybe you can have someone get it for you. (not me - hawaii everything is very expensive)

It's over 550$ to buy it in Norway, so yeah, that's a reasonable price :-O
The only thing that conserns me is the toll.

Sendt a mail to Adorama. Looks like there's a good chance of having to pay toll if I buy from a company.

Don't know anyone in america that could ship it for me though. And I'm not so sure if there's anyone in here that would like that responsibility?

I'll probably just end up buying it from my local camera provider... $_$
