View Full Version : HOW DO I POST PICS on APF

Q:How do i post an image here

To post pics, you need to find a website that allows hotlinking of pics. Open an account with them and upload your images.
One option is to host them here under MEMBER ALBUMS, but it is very limited, 5 pics per person. (space concerns). Other viable options are:
www.picturetrail.com
www.freewebspace.net
www.photoisland.com
www.shutterfly.com
www.uploadit.org

Next, copy the url of the image, by right clicking on it, and choosing Properties. In the Properties window, select the address that is shown next to the words : Address(Url), and copy it to clipboard (Ctrl-C).

Use the image tag ( the button on top that says IMG) and paste your url and remember to close the tag.

e.g "url"

You can preview your post first to see if your image(s) is/are attached properly. Maximum allowed pixel width = 640 pixels wide, 800 pixels tall

Two more options on a Host for your photos.............

www.imagestation.com
www.aolhometown.com

On the AOLhometown you get a free web sight where you can upload your photos and they will link to the forum.

I did not include imagestation on purpose, they are not very good.

How about Pbase.com if your looking to buy some space.
US$23 yearly for 100 Megabytes of photo storage.
Which is actually very very cheap!
Also allows remote linking, automatically makes
thumbnails of your pictures when you upload them
to the site.
Or you get the free 30 Day deal.

That is a very good deal for someone just looking for pic space (and you get a gallery).

my suggestion would be to check you your ISP to see if they offer free web space to customers...

I know mine offers 20mb of free space but then again I have my website thru someone else so I can use php and mysql on my site...

You can post your images on Fish Link Central's Photo Section (http://www.fishlinkcentral.com/photos/index.php). It's free and offers 10 MB of space. If you need more, just ask.

geocities has free sites, but doesn't support hot-links. Before we got our own site, we used to put pictures on there and have one photo per page and then post the page address. It wasn't great but it worked.

I pay $3.75 a month at http://villagephotos.com and get:
30MB Daily bandwith transfer and 100 images. 5 web pages and my max image size is 3MB. I also get E-Bay listing managment and URL tools for resize/compression & the like! I'm happy with it! [smilie=photo.gif]

... you can also use MollyMan.com (http://www.mollyman.com) for fishy pics, or PlantGeek.net (http://www.plantgeek.net) for plant pics. We don't charge anything...

What would be really cool paradise, is if you added a catagory in the links area for all of these photos hosts then just have a link to that catagory here. Save people having to search through all these posts for a fundemental list of pic hosts. [smilie=biggrin.gif]

they allow you to upload pictures (i've loaded well over 100mb) because they sell prints etc. although they are not required. the only problem, which to me isn't a problem... is when it's viewed it only shows up on your screen about 4x6 inches in size. here's one taken off the site someone sent me the link to. this is the tigris river in iraq.

Maybe I'm just a retard, but if I try to post an image I get an orange banner saying "
You have posted an image that is too large. Images can only be 0 pixels wide and 0 pixels high."

What am I doing wrong?

11-25-2004, 4:07 AM
try now, there is no more limits on image sizes.
