this is my first attempt to merge an HDR image. i know it's not the best subject, but i wanted to go somewhere with a lot of range to test this out. i took these 6 exposures (approx 2 stops between each shot - adjusted with shutter speed)

in CS2, you click file -> automate -> merge to HDR. then you browse and select the files you want to use (i clicked attempt to autoalign). the rest i'm still figuring out as i go. but in the histogram it shows, i set the whitepoint (set the photo to desired highlight exposure). i then clicked view -> show 32bit preview options -> and selected highlight compression to bring back the shadows. anyways this is the merged image.
