Today, I was out shooting more churches when another idea hit me...
What about making some sort of 'blue ribbon' to attach to the winning photos for the photographers physical portfolio. Being able to stack up the awards on your portfolio makes you 'apear' to be a real professional.

Anyway, a photo frame like the black frames used on a lot of these photos could be created with the sites address so potential clients could verify it, photographers name, Month it won. and a fancy blue ribbon icon in the corner made specially for the site. the site could award the winner with a print. (I know thats a cost) I would help contribute to something like this.

Your thoughts?

not a bad idea. Personally, i don't mind just having the banners underneath the users name. One potential problem with a print would be, that the user would have to be able to submit a full resolution image to the webmaster. I don't know about everyone - but many times I don't even process the full resolution imagem(in full size) unless i plan on printing it out. maybe a link from the banner underneath the users name - to the photo that won? I mean, it already includes the category, month and year.

The idea of us doing a print for each POTM winner is def. not a bad one. It's not difficult to come up with a "ribbon" like stamp to signify it as such. And the cost of producing prints (super high archival quality) is VERY inexpensive.

Hiro is right though, I would have to get pretty good files from the winners to give 'em the prints. We can take the idea further by doing a shop and selling the prints with proceeds to benefit the winners and APF at the same time. That is a very easy thing to do. We have been thinking of doing an APF calendar, it's been in the works for a long time (behind the scenes) so the shop is something that will be up before the end of the year.
