As you may have noticed, new POTMs just started. One thing you may notice different, when you select an individual photo to vote for, there is a box to the right of the photo with Voting Guidelines. Please read the guidelines, and try to follow them when voting.

The reason for these Guidelines stemmed from an earlier discussion. Many members think that this is a "pick your favorite" type of a contest, because they are used to Poll-type contests on other forums. That is what we are trying to avoid here. We are trying to judge the photos on the photography merits. Because this type of judging is not Absolute, more than one photo may receive the same grade, and not every grade MUST be given. Thus you can have 3 10s, 2 9s, 5 7s and nothing else. This type of grading system is a lot more accurate.

I would like to hear your opinions below. This is an ever-evolving system, and discussion is desired.

Just to give you guys a quick heads up, the new voting guidelines are working like a charm, all but ONE voter so far rated EVERY photo in the contest. The voting should be a lot more TRUE and accurate.

Now, the next step is to get more people to vote. We have a 65-70 Unique users per day average, and only <20 votes per photo. If you visit the forum, isn't it REALLY easy to vote?

Hi Ed :)

I think that this post makes it so much clearer as to what the POTM is all about. Since I have zero pms at the moment might I suggest you pm a link to this announcement to all members. Help spread the word ;)
