Congrats Rich, I told you so. :-D There were five entries in this contest that I thought had a good chance of placing first. I voted this one and the blondy shot equal. I couldn't vote for mine. If I could I may have edged Rich out. :-D

I also found the glass fish a successful challenge. That has to be a tough one to capture. And I thought it was well done.

The snakefish was a eye catcher when you looked at the thumbnails. But, although I liked it much, it was a little under exposed.

Another good round of entries. Job well done to all.

Congratulations Rich!

I can't believe how over-contrasted my image looks now  My monitor must have been way of when I was playing with that one.

I definitely had no problems with Rich's shot winning, I definitely think it's a well deserved win. The difficulty of keeping the whole fish like that perfectly tack-sharp is very high.

I also liked Alan's glass fish shot. It actually was in 2nd place through the first week, but then for some reason got bumped down. Remember I watch it happen and see everyone's votes :)

The tang that placed fourth was a bit surprising. It looks like it does not belong on the background, like it was copied and pasted. I did not vote very high for it for that specific reason. Dont know, something bothered me about it.

I also thought (like bobby) that the snakehead was too unevenly exposed to rate this high, a pass through the shadow/highlight filter would help very much.

Overall a great contest.

BTW, we are trying something NEW next month. EVERY entry that gets submitted will be used in the contest. For a couple of months we'll try it that way.

Thanks for comments and votes.

I love photographing congos they make such a great subject. Its always a balancing act with the position of the fish in relation to the overhead flash to get maximum impact of the scale colours without hitting exposiure burnout problems.

My favuorite shot in the competition was actually Bobby's clown loach which I thought was a great pose and captured the grouping behaviour of this species well.

Cheers

Rich

Well deserved. Was really between this and the glass fish for me. Just out of curiosity, what was cloned out of the picture?

Thanks Rich. Funny though, I picked yours as the winner. :-D

Thanks for not mentioning my effort, Boss. I mean heck, only lost by 3/100 of a point. :-P

But seriously for just a second. I'm disappointed that we don't get more feedback on the POTM entries after the winner has been disclosed. I mean heck, there were over forty people who voted. Where are their voices?

Haha, some of us are just speechless after getting the results (& reading the thread). You guys/gals give very good analysis and comments!

Sometimes, it feels 'weird' to just put up a post with just "Congratulations!" on it ... but I do it anyway.

Congratulations! ^_^
