APF Logo Design Competition (organized by Rich "squidfish", our newest MOD, thanks, man)
Given the wealth of artistic and photographic skills present at APF, we thought it was time to let you display your skills and imagination with a competition to design an Aquatic Photography Forum Logo. The winning logo design will be used both on the site and any future products that may be developed such as T-shirts. Therefore potentially your design may be seen widely around the world as members dive into the public aquariums and zoos with camera in hand and APF t-shirt on their backs.
Please let your imaginations loose with the graphics but remember it is often the most simple and basic designs that become the most memorable and effective logo graphics.
The competition winner will have their APF logo design used by the site for its promotion. The winner will also receive Platinum Contributer Rank status with full gallery privileges along with a free t-shirt when they are produced.
The competition will commence on the 1st of August and will close on the 31st of August. Competition entries will be judged by the site Admistrators. The winner will be announced on the 7th of November.
Entries submitted for the contest must be accompanied by your APF username and their your REAL first and last name. Files need to be emailed as an attachments to grhome@socal.rr.com
To facilitate judging of the entries, we have developed a few simple rules:
1) Entries may be any combination of graphics or text (NO photographs)
2) The logo should represent the main theme of the forum of aquatic photography.
3) A maximum of up to four colours may be used on your logo design.
4) Your logo design should have features that allow conversion to a black and white theme
5) Entries should clearly contain the web site address (aquatic-photography.com) w/out http:// or www.
NOTE: Here is the list of things that are important on the LOGO, I have reworked it after doing some of my own trial work, these are in ORDER of importance. The goal is to not necessarily use all of them, but at the very least the top 2-3 as long as it makes sense and does not look "TOO BUSY".
1. Aquatic Photography Forum (forum name)
2. aquatic-photography.com (forum URL)
3. APF (forum nickname)
4. Putting fish into focus (forum slogan)
6) Your entry should be submitted as a websize jpeg file (no more than 640 pixels wide or tall). The logo design may be in potrait or landscape format.
7) The winner needs to have a copy of the Photoshop file with layers, or a high resolution file either in jpeg or tiff format, although PSD file with Layers intact is preferred, to be used for the actual final design.
Copyright Information
Each entry shall remain the sole and original property of the participant.
By submitting the photograph, the participant allows APF to include it in any forum of advertisements and promotions, including off-site, and for use on merchandise. The winner relinquishes all financial possibility from any sales of the merchandise that has their logo design. The winner also permits APF to alter the design slightly to better fit specific media needs. The original intent and design will not be compromised.
We look forward to your creative entries and good luck
