The PDF should be a hoax. Look at the camera image. There is no socket for cable relase, USB ports and flash sync terminals. Also, the front is doctered from a 1 series film camera, but the back is from a 20D. Very suspicious, but in good fun. Wishful thinking on many photographer's part.
Cheers,
Some interesting specs there for a camera that's priced at slightly above $4k (would make sense if this was retail price). We'll have to see if this is the real deal on August 22 when it's supposed to be announced with the availability date of October 2005.
LOL...3 fps.

Hi benny,
perhaps you are right. But perhaps it is true. It is definately not official.

it's true and official now. :-P

Yes indeed and there's a discussion on another thread. I'll probably pick one up and see how this baby perform when it hits the market at the end of the year. You upgrading too?
Cheers,
One of my buddies received a copy for testing at the moment. Maybe I should stop by his place to check it out soon...
Just a quick update. I checked it out earlier today. This is one amazing camera and feel that many will be happy with it (especially for portraitures and product photography). Used a 135mm f/2 L lens on it so don't know what the pictures look like with a wide angle. There's lots to like about it, but the one thing that I didn't like about it was the sound of the shutter. Prefer the sound of the shutter on the 20D more. Otherwise, the 5D is an upgraded 20D with a full frame sensor.
5D in foreground. 20D in background with battery grip and RRS L-bracket.

you lucky dog. let me know when your friend samples a d200. that is one HUGE lcd screen. and that glass in the viewfinder in your picture looks like the size of my d70's in real life. the only thing i don't understand, is why they have a cat head attached to the shoe mount.

I wish to upgrade but deep down I know I don't need to. :-P
I had better shoot more with my current cam and concentrate on improving my technique rather than thinking of getting more advance equipment. Afterall, for me, it's only hobby. lol.....
I'll have to see how it goes.... the dark side is strong! arrrgh!

I wonder if the 20D grip will fit on it. ONce you get a grip, it' not just the lenses you need to be compatible but the grip too, otherwise you have to buy and sell again. Not a big fan of selling stuff.

nope - the grip is different ;)
i'd like this - but I really do not know if i could go back down to 3fps...
I'll eventually upgrade, but I'm holding out for a 1 series over the full frame.. probably go with a 1.3 crop due to the stuff i'm shooting...
but a full frame would be good for those times where I would require higher resolution...
but i'd wait for a price drop first.. the 5D is less responsive than the 20D unfortunately. Oh well, I have vendor training next month, so I'll get a hands on look at it as well before its released.. as well as stuff from nikon, pentax, sony etc...
Some additional shots. Pretty amazing stuff at high ISO settings.

Taken with the 135mm f/2 L lens by Michael himself (who's in possession of the camera). :)

That's unbeliveable! ISO 3200 huh? Beats the 20D.
Yup, basically the same at 3200 as the 1600 settings of the 20D.
I also asked Michael to do some testing with a wide angle lens.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to try 5D@3200 in one of my next visits at the local aquarium.
But i definitely donīt want to spent that much money ;-)
Some glass on the list is more important to me in the near future.

his work to 20D and 350D... B-)
What is the actual price now in USA
This EF 24-105 f4 L is the good enough for aqua-shots (macro mainly !)
and what is the possibility to work with external(separate) flash eccept Speedlite 430EX...
Thanking You in anticipation for the answers...

Thanks for sharing. And yeah, it's pricey. A full frame would be nice though :)

Not sure how the 5D will work on aquatic photos. The camera was returned back to the magazine (he shot the cover photo with it) and no further testing was done. I suspect that it would do what the 20D and 350D does at the minimum since it has a larger sensor and a better handle on noise.
It's not yet available in the US, but is available for preorders. Camera body is going for 3.3k and the battery grip (BG-E4) is another $250. The Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS is supposed to be available sometime this month and comes in at $1,250. I reckon it would be do a decent job with aquatic subjects (possible to take aquatic photos with kit lenses from both Nikon and Canon), although not as well as a dedicated macro lens.
Flash wise, it's supposed to mate perfectly with either the 430EX or the 580EX.
Hoping that Lisa will chime in with more info.
