Hello everyone, I'm new here! [smilie=smile.gif]

I have a question about a specific camera that I am debating on getting.

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10026989&newdeptid=14&logon=&langid=EN&dept=0&WLBS=fsweb5

Would this be a suitable camera for photographing my fish? I want to stay around the 3-400$ range if possible. TIA!

hey man

I dont think you will be happy with that camera. Do me a favor, read this thread below I answered some questions about camera choices for another user here:

LMK if you have more questions, keep in mind, everyone will have a different opinion on the make of camera, but the features you need are pretty much what is agreed on.

Ed's right.

If you are seriously considering taking pictures of your fish, a camera with a hotshoe is much better as it has external flash options.

Try to get a used one in good condition if your budget doesn't permit you to get a new one. Certain model may not be new and top of the line (by current standards), but they still take great pictures. A good example is Canon G2. I have friends who picked up this camera at a great price and doing well with it.

Cheers,

once all the new cameras come out that were introduced at PMA (d70 + more are coming soon) you might be able to pickup a canon g3 or maybe even g5 in that price range.

Paradise, I went to the site on the link you gave me. The only problem I have is that I don't have a clue what they are referring to 95% of the time. I'm thinking of just saving for a few weeks, then buying something like a little more "highend" rather than buying a cheap camera.

I'm going to go take a look at some cameras this weekend, and I'll be sure to post here before I buy.

Thanks :)
