I bought a remote today. To get just a bit more shutter than 30", and it will make some of my studio shots a tad easier. And even possible.
And the bulb function seems to be good planed. One press and it opens, another press it closes.
But how do I know when it's properly exposed? Try 'n fail? Or are there another ways?
One more thing. I'm really interested in a battery grip. I know there are only 3rd party grips available, but got any good ones to recommend?
And do they make 'em wireless? I don't like the IR cable many of them use.

Good night.

Long exposure is basically trial and errors. Depending on how much light you're working with, you might be able to guestimate how long to keep the shutter open, but it isn't 100%. Just lots of testing and memorizing what works.
There are a few grips out there on the market. Hoodman, Jenis, and Harbortronics are three of them. I forget if they come with the IR cable or not. I believe that the Harbortronics comes with or without the IR cable, but you have to send it to them to modify if I remember correctly (voids warranty).

Ok, thanks Ibn. I don't want to drill holes in my D70 just yet.
The only modification that will be performed on my camera is IR, when I get my next body :)
ahh you gonna do that? take off the cut filter?

Yes, but that's when I feel D70 is outdated and I get a new body.
2 bodies, on normal and one IR mod.
You see, I'm a huge fan of B&W photos. And IR it's so easy to add dramatic effects, so I'm looking forward to that day.
