Took this one randomly yesterday, the only shot saved from a session:

hi Ed. it kinda looks like the gravel is bunched up against the front glass - and a little hot - but the catfish is nice and sharp. good DOF. a little dark, which isn't too bad but it doesn't contrast a whole lot against the background. the oof fish is distracting. i think it's a good shot.

Interesting how all the colors sort of blend together in a natural tone motif. The sand, the fish, the background are closely related in the color spectrum.

Ed, I always find it difficult to find something wrong with your shots. In this case the only thing I see odd is that the top of the fish seems a tad darker than the side and bottom. I'm guessing this is the characteristics of this species. I don't find the fish in the bg distracting at all. Did you blur it out more or is it pure dof?

Nice shot.

Thanks, guys. that was fast :)

I agree that it blends a bit, it's the tank, everything is very earthy and natural. :)

Bobby, there is almost nothing done to the photo. Literally raw resized. The only thing I did was lighten the sand that was pressed against the glass, as it came out dark, to make it blend in a bit.

If that's a random shot, you're a lucky *** Ed!
I like it a lot, particularly the tail. The only thing I would change if I could is the Cory in background.

LOL, thanks, Alan. It's hard to get those cories to move. It's a 60g tank with about 30 cories and about 12 (now) of the Dianema cats plus other fish. The bottom just is a slithering mess :)
