OK guy's & dolls,
I'm getting the 580ex flash.. hope it's a good choice?

My question to you is: the ST-E2 IR-Transmitter is it worth the money or for less then a 3rd of the price i could get a cable!
Money is an issue so i don't want to waste it,

Comments please.

Thanks
Paul.

Hi Paul,

For aquatic photography, it's a real convenience. A lot of folks have used the cable and produced great results too.

Personally, I can't live without one.

I bought one on the advice of my friends here a few months ago . I just couldn't do without it now .

Yeah, cable wont give you the flexibility, I like to keep moving my flash and positioning it different ways, using reflectors, cables just get in the way of the setup, specially since you are already doing it with one hand, holding the cam in your other hand. I love mine, and just like the two comments above me, could not do what I do w/out one. IT's worth it.

Thanks all
Seems like something to go for then!

I'll let you know how things work out with it when it arrives!

I have it and it's great. It has really opened up a whole new world of photography for me. Aside from my camera, it has been my best purchase so far

I went with the 420 flash instead of the 580.
