Excuse the simplicity of this question but how do i draw an elipse that is just a "line" (ie no fill). I am trying to use the "elipse tool" but i cant make the fill dissapear.
Thanks guys
You can alter the color of the ellipse the color and style that you want by going to the bar at the top (2/3rds over on the top).

Um... I feel really dumb.
I still cant do it. Can someone walk me through it?
How do I alter the line thickness? How would I make it a dashed line?
Many thanks
WW
hey WW. on the top there should be 3 icons. a square with a dot on each corner, a square with a pen inside it with dots on the corners, and normal square. select the one in the middle (the one with the pen inside) and it will draw a line. if you want to control the thickness of the line, or the color of the line - you are using the wrong tool. try using the elliptical marquee tool instead. it's the first tool on the toolbar. draw your circle - click on the edit tab, and select stroke. from here you can choose the color and the thickness of the line in pixels. afterwards hit ctrl+d to deselect and you can see your circle.
honestly, i don't know of a way to make a dotted or dashed circular line in photoshop.
