View Full Version : What do you think?
I really like this one. I think it was a good representation of the the fish, but the only real critique I have of the photo is that the flash needed to be diffused on top of his head. Perhaps I'll get a chance to photograph the fish again and correct the mistake. I have been playing with my telephoto and remote flash lately. I'm trying to get the hang of it. Camera was my old digital rebel with 70-200 f/4L @200mm. Anyway, thoughts?

Hey Clay, welcome to APF :) I guess my hint on WW worked? :)
re: photo, is that Mojo's fish? It's a nice carpinte. As far as the technical mumbo-jumbo, The flash was too strong, you are right. Also the fish was probably right above it, so it really overdid the top and the underside got totally dark. You want to be slightly in front of the fish with the flash at a slight angle towards it. The shot has great "mood" though, and it's very sharp.
Yeah, I have been meaning to talk to you about my new 20d. I just upgraded from the digital rebel, but I see so many new features on this one. Now to learn them all.... I have another shot I would like you to eval when you have a chance. I'll start a new thread.

I think this is a near miss. It's not bad, but it's not quite right - although the idea is a good one. I agree that diffusion and slight change in the flash position would do the trick.
