Hi,
POTM is over, before heading to Stuttgart (DATZ "black water fish" Forum at Wilhelma) i want to congratulate Ed for his first place and Tobi for the third one - well done. I´m a little disappointed about the final result for Zhou Hang´s Ramirezi. Picked this one as my personal winner with 9/10. Kudos!

I like the idea to put all photos handed in into the contest without preselection. I do the same on afnet.

/off now with new glass ;-)

Congratz Ed, well deserved win! My favourite in the bunch.
Wow, can't believe I was 0.02 points from victory in the Genral :-D

I thoght it was a winner when I first saw it. It got my 10. Great shot Ed. I also was disappointed that the Ramirezi didn't finish second, I also gave that a 9. There were many good shots in this contest. I also liked Chelle's face off shot a lot too. Congrats to all for doing jobs well done.

Hey, I won :) : ) Personally I would like to say that I think MrTree's photo should definitely have been in top 3. I liked Andreas' shot, but I think that maybe 3 and 4 should have been reversed. I actually really like the action in Chelle's shot, but technically that Ram is amazing.

OK now it's officially time to submit more pics, guys. I have almost zero submissions, and I KNOW that the address is working. :)

Your shot was a 11 on a scale of 1 to 10 Ed. Superb capture. I also agree the Ram should have scored higher, it was technically AND aesthetically good capture as well. I mentioned to Chelle on another site that I think she needed just a tad more light for her enjoyable capture.

If you sit this one out... maaaybe I'll enter something. ;) :-D Just kidding, of course.

Well done Ed!
I must admit that I agree with Andreas - I gave top marks to Mr Tree's ram, perhaps because I'm not very fond of 'yawning' photos, but I can't fault your eartheater on technical grounds.
It was a very close competition this month and I guess we all found it difficult to award our points fairly. I find it takes me a long time when we have so many entries.

It does not take me much longer. I dont think of any other photos when I judge the one in front of me. I look at it and decide how much I like it on a 1-10 scale. It's not comparative analysis :)

I agree. I look at the photo and give it a grade between 1 and 10 and then move on. I may have had several 8s, 9s and a 10 this time. Can't remember for sure.

bobby, I can tell you how you voted ;) :) :) :) I know how everyone voted :) (insert evil grin)

BTW, this month, for the first time, I had to remove votes. Someone either opened several accounts or asked alot of friends to join and vote for their photo only. These people only signed on once, and voted for that one photo and have not been back. Those votes were removed. Next time, I will ban those accounts. Be honest, because we see it all.

Congratulations Ed, Andreas and Tobi !!!!

I was a bit disappointed with the Ram. I thought it should have been in top 3. General and Aquatic contests this month were very surprising IMO. Choices and selected points from some members left me puzzled. There was a lot of shadiness going behind the curtain.

There is always next month so let's keep it going !

You know that's kind of scary...!

Actually I don't vote for every photos, if I could vote for my own picture, I would give 7. I voted 7 to a couple pictures if I remember correctly. Personally my fav shot in the contest was Hitokiri's.:p

Alex, dont worry about it. With the way our system is setup (thanks to Carsten) we can see exactly who voted and how, we can remove votes, and it's very good. I track IPs of new accounts and make sure it's all kosher. :)

MrTree, I really hope that we all here try to adapt the voting method that is promoted on APF, which is to give EACH photo an honest grade, indepentently from others. We can't force everyone to do it, but I still see a lot of instances where people just pick one photo and give it a grade (usually a 10, because they are used to the "poll" system). That is misleading. The one 10 is not necessarily a measure of how good the photo is, but rather a statement saying that it's the best photo. Different scale, but counted the same way by the system. Your photo may have gotten shafted this month from EXACTLY that practice.

Hi Bobby (and all others),
if you are logged in, you can see your own vote and the final result for comparison! Simply go to the page with a specific photo - your vote is shown under the final score, after the potm is over.
So everybody is able to compare his own vote and the average vote.

A little late (have been away), but better late than never.

Congratulations Ed! You were one of my top picks (Andreas & CDM's were my other two).

I kinda felt probably CDM's should have placed higher (that eye is eye-catchy) ... I guess I was the few who appreciated superb-clear well-exposed well-lit close-ups.

... and for some reason I just didn't fancy MrTree's Ram. Oh well ...

I was expecting the Ram to be placed higher than it is. But then again, you can never tell with these contests.

Congrats to the other winners too.

Cheers,
