Hmm.... seems to have encounter some similar problem quite some time back but it's not with DC.
I think it will be useful if you can provide information like,
1) name of program,
2) brand and model of camera,
3) exact error message.

Let me try to check it out.
Does your camera have a USB connection? How about your computer? If the answer is YES to both, you can just view them directly if you have Windows XP. Otherwise, did the camera came with a driver? was it a Twain driver? Usually Twain drivers are for Scanners and Printers.

Ed seems to be right. You might want to try re-installing your camera driver.

This isn't always necessarilly true (but most any modern digi-cam, it is the case). The camera has to have a USB Storage compliant interface. For example, Olympus cameras made just a few years ago have the exact same mini-usb interface, and even the exact same cable as the modern Olympus camera, but they require 'Camedia' to get your goofy pics from the camera.
Again, most of the time this is true, but not always :o)
I'm betting if it's requiring TWAIN drivers of some type, it's probably going to give you trouble unless you have XP compatable twain drivers. Hit up the manufacturers website, and see if there are XP-compiant drivers (twain or otherwise).
