Hi Folks
Well as it has been a while since I announced this, so I thought it time for a reminder, particularly given the lack of response to the intital post.
We are organising a meet and photograph session for APF members at the Sealife Centre in Birmingham for the 23rd October.
The sealife centre have agreed to waiver any admission charge (usually £11) for our group. I will also see if I can negotitate a 'behind the scenes visit'. I also understand that flash photography is permited in some areas of the centre. The sealife centre would also like to receive some copies of your best shots for their species library
For those seeling more information about the centre then here is the link.

Hope to see you there !!!!!
I will post details of meeting time and directions here about a week before the meet.
Cheers
Rich

Isn't it a strange idea to put the National Sea Life Centre in the city furthest from the sea!
Actually I went there a few years ago, when I had some time as I was passing through Brum. I haven't been to all the Sea Life Centres, but I thought this one was the most user-friendly for photography that I had visited. I was particularly impressed with their large tanks for dogfish & rays (both of which seemed to be breeding well). I used up a lot of film trying to photograph a pair of lesser spotted dogfish mating. This is a scan (with a lot of Photoshop work too).

Wouldn't it be nice if a pair performed like this before the massed cameras, lenses & flashes of the UK APFers?
Be there or be square :-D

Trigger and Clippo, (as well as everyone else) you should really do it. Let me tell you, the most fun I have had on APF was meeting Benny and Jay in person and hanging around. You always learn, plus you get a whole different point of reference, and make real friends.

I'm sure this can be arranged - it's just a little detour for me, provided you don't mind riding in a Smart car.

I have to ask Alan . What is a smart car ?
Way to step up guys. One of these days, I'll make it over the pond to visit, but until then, have a great time snapping. Looking forward to the pics already.

It's a car that's really smart ;)
Actually it's a 2 seat city car made by Mercedes. I love mine - my students say it looks like a ladybird (ladybug in the US). Look here (http://www.smartmanchester.co.uk/new_car_trim.asp?cid=1&tid=1) - and click on the little red & black one: it's just like mine.

I know, a couple of months ago I met two fellow moderators of another forum. We met at nausicaa in Boulogne, France. A kind of sea-life center. It was great meeting the guys in person. But I had a lot more time preparing for that meeting... Wife, kid... I'll do my best! In any case, I hope it won't be the last meeting, so if I can not make it, I'll get another chance.

Hi
The meet up time will be at 11am at the entrance of the Sealife Centre Building.
At the moment I have 3 members who are definately going. I need to know the full numbers by the end of next week (14th October) to inform the centre, so please post if you are intending to attend.
Cheers

I think we had a lot of fun.
But you can look at our threads in the Aquatic Photography Gallery and judge for yourself :-)
