I stumbled across this while sifting through my saved links and thought that this might be of interest to the Canon Rebel (300D) users. It's a Firmware Hack which apparently allows the 300D to have some of the same features and settings as the 10D.

If some of the more experienced Canon users review the site and find that it's a bogus find, please disregard it and my apologies. Just trying to lend a helping hand where ever I can since I'm a newbie to the DLSR world and all.

So here's the site:
300D Firmware Hack (http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/digital_rebel_firmware_hack.html)

Again my apologies if it proves to be false. I don't own a Canon so I don't know much about this particular field.

While I can not say whether it will work or not, And it may be a good working MOD of the firmware, I dont know if I would ever trust a non-company released software piece. You are betting your $500-800 piece of hardware on this, and the improvements are minor.

Exposure compensation is an OK addition, mirror lock up is not widely used, and 3200 ISO is useless on 300d as it does not have the same noise handling capabilities as 20d or even 350d.

It's risky. Be careful. OH, and it voids the factory warranty.

I completely understand where you are comming from.. Though you and I know that there are definetly some thrill seekers that are always looking for that edge with budget in mind, and this might be that something... Granted they should be completely aware of the risks involved.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend or condone the website or it's information with in. I just figured it could provide some benefit to any that would be willing to take the risk.

I guess you could say I'm trying to lend a helping hand where ever I can with the limited knowledge that I might possess. ;)
