Hi all!

Well, I was away for a week (and the week b4 that I didn't read the threads), and I realised I missed reading about 20+ threads! (And that'll take me like 1-2hrs just to browse through).

So I was just thinking - what about creating subcategories under the "Aquatic Photography Gallery" category? Just some general ones and not too detailed, e.g.

Marine
Angelfish, Arowana, Bettas, GoldFish & Koi
Cichlids & Discus
Guppies, Platies, Tetras
Catfish, Plecos & Bottomfeeders
General & Others

... or something like that. Critique corner should still stay as a "more serious" thread.

Not too many categories ... then we end up with "dead" categories.

What do you think?

RazorBlade,

Thanks for your feedback and comments.

Main focus on APF is AQUATIC photography and we would like to keep it at the general level. I’m a strong believer that too many sub-sections look chaotic and disorganized. We do NOT “discriminate” against livebearers, cichlids or other. It is all the same subject, and in my honest opinion, should be kept at the same level.

I would recommend using New Posts feature especially after being absent for a long time. Thank you for your participation.

John, Jay's got a point. Our subject is photography. If we were to separate we'd be separating into different photography categories. There are too many fish types and some categories would just be dead space. Even separating into SW and FW gets into trouble.

"Find New Posts" feature is the best way to do this. Just click on the "New Posts" line next to your avatar at the top of the home page. Nice and simple (for the most part).

Jay & Ed - No worries! Just a suggestion. ;-)

I think it's a great suggestion.
I know myself that the new post can take a long time to browse. And I usually loose a lot of posts myself when I refresh it.

If it takes that long for you to browse then:

#1. You would still "lose a lot of posts" no matter how many sections we would have.

#2. There is a way around it:
#2a. If I'm correct we can setup a refresh rate to be longer
#2b. You can click BACK button instead of clicking New Posts. This will take you back to your initial New Posts count.

Happy browsing ;)

Yep, that is how I do it, you see the "new posts", read, reply, click back, back, see it again.

I usually open multiple windows ... so you can imagine I sometimes have 10-20 windows opened for every post that I want to read. (And at the same time, I'm probably surfing for news, checking my e-mails, and probably squeeze in a phone call in between reads).

I don't use the "New Post" function 'cos I usually don't finish ALL the posts I want to read in one visit. Oh well, you can't win them all! :-P

Razor,

Think about FireFox. I stopped using IE and muliple windows is not an issue anymore :)
