So I'm new here, have posted the obligatory newbie greetings in the welcome forum, and now, since people have requested....

I've got more in this series, but I'm testing the waters so to speak with just one. If you would like to see more in this particular series, let me know.

Its a tulip. My fascination changes for different things at different times of the year, considering up here in Maine, nothing much happens during winter, so I have to find something else to do.... This particular winter it was tulips. At one point I had about 5 different varieties blooming. Some would open wide up, others would barely open.

Anyway, enough rambling. Enjoy the picture.

I am speechless...

what did you do for lighting to get the highlights on the flower?

Actually, all I did was have the tulips on a window sill, and used the sun to do the lighting.

Since our apartment is on the small side - setting up an area for lighting can be quite limiting. But I've always preferred natural methods over artificial. Available light photography I love. The less artificial light the better, but thats not to say I won't use it if I ever feel the need for it though.

Thanks for looking!

Hey Lisa, this is one great shot. [smilie=bowdown.gif] I have to say your real world shot is way better than your aqua shots (sorry if I'm too honest). More photots please!!!

yeah - i'll have to agree with you on the fish shots - they're a (very) weak spot with me ;)

always good to be honest - you're lucky i don't have an ego ;)

I'll post some more of the tulip series tomorrow

Hi Lisa,

Very vibriant colors and interesting perspective.

Depth of field seems a little shallow, but I suppose it's personal preference.

Was this shot on a digital camera too?

Cheers,
