Hi,
i know that at least Ed and Benny are using the transmitter, got one last week myself. Since those 2CR5-Batteries are quite expensive, i searched for an akku. Got one a fews days ago. Seems to be a new piece of technique, because many people at the stores told me there is no 2cr5 akku available.
Anyway, after charging the akku, i put that one into my ST-E2 - after a short flash of one of the leds the lights went out again.

After some emails with the owner of the store, where i got this set from, there is an explanation.
Because some of these akkus are exploded in the past, there is a strong security mechanism inside. The akku went off after the strong attempt of the ST-E2 to get much power in short time. The capacity went from 6V to 0V and after a short try to recharge it (done back at the store) the power was back.

(i could have explained it better in german ;-) )

Long story, now my question:
Is there a working solution with another manufacturer?

My set looks like this: picture (http://www.akkushop.de/images/2CR5-PowerSet.jpg)

Thanks for your comments.

Hi Andreas ,
The battery in my ST-E2 died last week . I just went into Wal-Mart and got a new one . Its not recharge able , but for as long as they last I didn't think it mattered . Its a duracell ultra . Cost me , I think $ 10.45 . Works great .

Hi Ron,
thanks for your feedback. I forgot, that you also use one.
What do you think, how many photos have you done with one battery?
I´m still hoping for another akku solution.

Its not recharge able , but for as long as they last I didn't think it mattered.

I have over 6400 shots on the camera now and I would say that at least half of them are with the ST-E2 using the lithium battery .

I was surprised that it just died all at once . I thought it would slow down first .

Hi

My STE-2 battery just died too. They seem quite difficult to get in the shops so I bought a box of 10 online ..lol

Seemed quite a good deal, given the price the shops sell them for individually.

Cheers

Rich

LOL, I remember when my first one died, I panicked and called benny. :) Yeah, one second it works fine, next, poof, nothing. I just buy them 2 at a time and have a spare. About $11-12, and they last 3-4 months. A LOT of shots, Andreas, dont know if it's worth an "Akku". Till I saw the photo, could not figure out what you were talking about :) In English, it's "charger". :)

@Ron: 3000 shots would be good :-)

@Rich: sorry, forgot you too! packs with 10 sounds like a good , also found 10x Varta here in germany. 60 Euro (instead of 15 Euro i paid for my single one!)

@Ed:
Till I saw the photo, could not figure out what you were talking about :) In English, it's "charger". :)
Now that you mention it... ;-)
"accumulator" was in my mind.

Hmmmm - seems to be, i´m the only one trying to get a charger solution?

Benny? Any news from the technical front line?

Well andreas, if 60 gets you ten, and those would last for YEARS, how much is the "accumulator"? Is it worth it even? They really do last a long long time.

if 60 gets you ten, and those would last for YEARS, how much is the "accumulator"? 30 Euro (includes one rechargable battery)

Haven't got one myself, but was looking around for it for a while.

Give the fact that 2CR5 cost about US$5 each here. I just buy a few every time.

Cheers,

p.s. No point buying 10 to keep as Lithum Ion batteries discharges itself over time. Even if unused.

Hi benny,
thank you. If you ever try to use a rechargable one for your ST-E2 (didn´t worked here, as described above), please let me know about the success.

For now i bought a set of four at a big auction place for 21 Euro (include shipping), it is labeled "use before 2015".

Well I don't have the STE2 but my old Powershot S10 uses 2CR5 batteries and I'm wondering if the rechargeables for the s10 would work on the STE2?

Hmm, probably getting a ste2 around Christmas...
