WOW.
This is amazing. I don't care as much about D200 as I would if I didn't have D2X but the higlight for me is 18-200 VR and Speedlight Commander. I don't need to have useless SB-800 to trigger other remotes, now I can utilize all my flashes. Jump up and down :)
Thanks for that info. I see that dpreview is going out of control.
Doh...was over Denver, CO when those images went on the Nikon UK site (just saw these on another forum). Knew that Jay would be happy to see that SU-800 unit and so am I. Those macro ring lights look pretty sweet too....
That's one sexy camera there...now they just need to officially announce it and give us a ship date.

Awww....Drooling all over my keyboard...
I know the D200 is out of my league. That 18-200mm looks like a nice walkaround lense though.

Some one dpreview did quick compare photoshop work. left to right (D2x, D200, D70, D50). You could tell that very small portion of D200 is missing on the bottom but this is how Nikon Fleet compares at the moment.

This D200 hundred looks like the premium prosumer body. Huge lcd and viewfinder. Any idea about the price range?

Man, that LCD is GIGANTIC!!!! Kool! I have to say, the new line, body, lenses, wireless controller, looks VERY good.
hi Bobby. word on the street is $1750 - $2000
it's supposed to be for the semi-pro crowd. i believe nikon production won't be able to keep up with sales on this one. there's a lot of people waiting.
nice shots Jay, clearly the eyepeice is a lot bigger than the d70's i'm eagerly anticipating looking through the viewfinder.

So now my next dilema will be..."keep the D70 for a back up or sell it to offset the cost for the new D200" :-/ :-(
Keeping my D70 for a backup. Went over to Roberts Imaging earlier today (only 5 minutes away from the hotel) and tried probing them for dates, but nothing came out of it...
They did have a 300 2.8 there, but it wasn't AFS and was rated a 7+ for $1,200...they also had a 400 2.8 AFs...almost caved there. Good thing that these pictures came out otherwise, I'd have a burning hole in my wallet (400 2.8 was hella steep at 6.7k).
do it do it. and then switch to canon and offload it to hir0 for next to nothing :)

I wouldn't sell D70 now. It is too late. You will probably get pennies compare to what you would have get prior to D70s / D50 and now D200. I would keep it.

these specs look crazy. but then, it's probable this is fake with all the other doctored things floating around.

Did you notice this:
"Flicker Free Image Preview" - I wonder if this is true????
i don't see why not, my lcd on my d70 doesn't flicker. -.-

Key word is "Preview" - That is, before you take the shot. Of course, maybe they meant "Image Review"???.
good point. didn't pick up on that.

I am guessing typo? But it would be cool. Histrogram before you shoot would be nice. But, then again, unless it is a one in a million shot, it is not the big of deal to shoot a shot and readjust. I guess we will know next week if the "Real" announcement really happens. Tuesday shoot be an interesting camera day (I hope).

I'm really liking this camera more and more. Specs look amazing and for that price, Nikon just set new level for Mid Level DSLR.
Here are few more images.

I really want a battery grip....Aww..
If only I had the ca$h, but new glass is my maine priority..
Mark, I'm guessing 'preview' means preview on your camera before view on your monitor :)
anyways here's a page that was taken down from an italian site dated Nov. 1. and babelfish for translation.

I gotta say it looks pretty damn slick, and if that 18-200mm VR (or IS as it's properly called :-P) has good optical qualities that'd be one hell of a lense to own. Definately streamline the old camera bag at any rate...
And on top of it all, Nikon finally makes a camera that's gadgety enough to appeal to me. The D2x has never been something I looked at, and the D70 just doesn't have enough mysterious dials on it to wow me ;)
Yeah I know, but in the absence of actual specs, what else is there to really comment on, hehe. Sharp looking piece of equipment, good to see Nikon giving no quarter to Canon and making sure the digital SLR market remains very competitive for some time to come.

This is one sick camera! I'm new here and just getting into this hobby and If I have the patience to wait on getting an one - this is going to be it! Hopefully it's within my price range.

Wow. No vari-programs. That means my wife won't be able to feel comfortable using it... hmmm... that could be a good thing ;).
LOL. Actually there is a way to do so. You can set four different custom set of settings on the camera. While not the same as the vari-programs, it can be programmed to work the same way. Just don't let your wife know about it, haha.
