Nice Tank PT and cichlhadz.
cichlhadz did you build the tank?
What do you have in it? I see some Neon Tetra?
Yeah, it's a bit of a mixture, trying to get the wife into fish and she always goes for the most colourful overcourse [smilie=lol.gif]
There are neon tetra, glowlight tetra, white cloud, platies, golden wonder panchax, khulies, cories, appistogramma, a bolivian ram and a bloodparrot X Jellybean (Bloodparrot X Convict). It's kinda dark at the moment but the plants are well overdue a prunning and re-planting.

Jak Crow, I like your tank too. Very well lit and refreshing! Care to share with us on how you set up for the tank picture and the equipment used?
Thanks. I took the pic with only the tank light on in the room, which is a 260 watt CF fixture. I just got a new Minolta Dimage z1, and my tank pic was created by taking a series of 4 pics, then stitching them together into a panoramic image with Olympus' Camedia software that came with an older digital camera I have, but will work with images taken with any camera. Taking pics like this allows me to get closer to the tank for more detail, and the panoramic series of images makes for the entire tank shot.
Wow, I can't even find any trace from the pic.

Question -- why are some pics longer than mine? Initially, I got an error msg telling me I needed to resize to 640px wide. Other pics appear to be longer than this though.
Previously, the limited on the forum was larger than 640 pixel. However, 1024 X 768 being the common resolution, a lot of the larger pictures was causing the forum window width to be stretched to accomodate them. This resulted a hassle reading the subsequent posts as you'll have to scroll left and right all the time.
At the end of the day, the team felt that 640 pixel width is a good size to showcase pictures without compromising details.

Hi benjamin,
The plant you have looks suspiciously like Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia or one of the Aponogeton species.
Is it growing out of a pot? What color are the stem of the plant? Green or brownish?
By the way, it's a very nice plant!

I'm not sure on what plant this is... but looking through the profiles on http://www.tropica.com its the only one that looks similar to the one i have... i bought it unlabled at a lfs, and the guy didn'y knoe the name of it...

Great looking tanks, Roy. What's in the 180?
I hate that those Pangeas cost so much here. It's 300+ for almost any one of them. How is the pricing in Europe, Roy?
Roy W.
08-05-2004, 7:32 PM
In US Dollars this one would cost over 300$
Back to nature is almost twice the price of that again.
Similar to this from BTN would cost over 700$ USD
(Shipping included)
But this is the biggest they make too..

Thank you!
To be honest i want to make my 180g look like your 200g
Want to start with bigger cichlids again, i miss them.
Don't say that. You are doing a great job aquastyling yourself....follow your own taste, that will keep the hobby interesting for you. And for the comment on bigger cichlids....yeah, they sure are pretty (I like small ones as well, but the bigger ones just make more of an impression).

My three show tanks.... Links used because this site will not allow me to imbed the images -- everything is too big, though the actual image sizes tried were far below max allowable resolution.....

Nice man, but that is a lot of filter tubes  you need a sump BAD!!!!!
It's only 3 filters... that isn't too bad hehe. It's those darn diatom filter tubes and the surface skimmer intake that really make it look busy. If the diatom weren't such a pain to prime I'd just pull those tubes out, then it wouldn't look like the Borg tank.
Oh well, the price we pay for clear water and overstocking. I'd like a sump but just can't justify it on a 75.

That is very true, great pic. I like your fixture :) JBJ Formosa, right? I have one too on my 110g.

10-13-2004, 9:56 PM
Yep, it's a JBJ... only problem I had with it was that it uses straight pin tubes while all my other fixtures are square pin. One of these days I need to hold a sale on all my 50/50 and actinic bulbs (some 10k's too, but I'm sure I'll use those again) just to get them out of the house... make me want to set up a nano-reef again :).
I'll probably upgrade my planted tank to a 75 with some MH's in the next couple weeks... expect some interesting shots shortly!
Thanks all for the kind words, I need to update that pic since the tank has changed a bit since I took it.

Great lookin jungle biotope oblivious! The light effect is captured well in that shot!

ok, well this is my 45g long, broke all the rules with this one... lack of rocks, lots of driftwood, mixed small tanganyikans with one's that get huge (fronts) have mbunas + other malawi's. i do use crushed coral in the filter to help out with the ph/hardness and it hovers around 7.8 which isn't terrible considering all the wood
excuse my horrible photography...

this 20g long is what i use to raise my 11 baby leleupi. no background, so i can see behind from the kitchen.

Wouldn't exactly called it a biotope 'cause the plants are from all over. But it is specially designed for the C. acutirostre.

This is my 375 liter (about 100 gallon) tank in my livingroom. Trying to get a South-American look. Mostly American plants and fish.

bjarne, that is one of the coolest tanks I have ever seen [smilie=c: [smilie=c:
Do you have it set up w/the whole reactor thing, and heated substrate? Please give me some details. I have never been able to keep a planted tank going well, always tear it down 'cause of the problems w/algae. What is a good way to do it? I have been thinking of doing one, again, on a bigger scale. maybe it was bad that I had a small setup (29 g)

Thanks :) Some details about the tank are avaible here: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/tanks/displaytank.php?tank=5709&group=S
Bjarne, a couple of questions:
1. So there is no filter, just a powerhead?
2. What do you do for CO2 injection?
3. I am not familiar w/the substrate, what kind is it?
4. How much heat does that lighting generate? Sounds like a tanning saloon :)
Bjarne
11-05-2004, 2:19 PM
1. Filter behind the background: http://www.aquadigital.net/btn_filtersystem.htm (The text is in Norwegian, but I think the pictures tells more than words;))
2. Until this weekend I've been using DIY-CO2-injection (5 liters plastic gascan hooked to a passive glasreactor behind the BTN-background). This weekend I will set up a professional CO2-system (6kg CO2-bottle with a regulator) :cheesy:
3. The substrate is called "Rådasand" (from Sweden) and is a popular substrate here in Scandinavia. It contains only quartz and will not influence the waterchemistry.
4. The lightning generate enough heat that in a normal livingroom-temperature I really don't need a traditional heater (I got one just in case).
My homepage www.aquadigital.net contains a lot of pictures of the building of the lighthood and more (sorry it's only in Norwegian).

Ed,
What you want to know about planted tank ?. I have been keeping planted tanks for past 10 years. There is a Aquatic Gardeners Association Convention Nov11-14 in Washington DC. I can't wait.
We have special speakers this year - Takashi Amano from Japan and Jan Bedmaijster from Germany.

I posted this on the last day of the old board so it was not transferred across. Here is a repost for the record.
Here are a couple of shots of my 30 gal community. The first is an oblique shot and the second is a stitched panorama. The latter doesn't work so well, especially since I have no manual aperture/shutter/focus settings on my camera.
