Well..that sucks...
I'm a 49AL
That means that I will be without a camera for a couple of weeks? Forget it, maybe when I buy a second battery!

Alix - Buy an EN-EL3A and then return EN-EL3. Then you will have a new longer life battery and a new EN-EL3 battery as backup when Nikon sends you one back. Maybe they just will replace the bad batteries with the EN-EL3a batteries?
Don't know about that, but it would be cool if they did. Just found out about it this morning from another forum, so I'll be checking my batteries when I get home. Good thing I have multiples to keep me shooting. :-D

The D70 is compatible with the A version?
Sounds good, where to get it cheap .... eBay!
Or maybe my local camera shop, thanks for the tip mate.
Yup....and you'll be able to get more shots out of an EN-EL3a.

One of my spare EN-EL3 was affected. I brought it down to our local Nikon service center for a 1 to 1 exchange and guess what?!
Nikon replaced me with an EN-EL3e instead! That's the standard battery for D200 :wow: :-D
Gack! Damn, that's a great deal. Out of three batteries, only one of mine is under recall and the nearest Nikon center is a good 5 hours away.

For those of you who are not aware (especially D50 owners), Nikon has added somemore batch number to the list.
Do check it out to play safe!

bummer.... I was hoping my EN-EL3 would be on there - I would love to trade it up for an EN-EL3a or e.
One of mine is and I just got it in the mail this past weekend. Was hoping that it would be the new EN-EL3e, but they sent me the EN-EL3a instead. :(

I was just about to send out an order for my flash & remote when I read this so I went ahead and added an EN-EL3a to the order. I'll send my old batter in when I get the new one.

I just got a letter from Nikon about the recall. It says:
Your Nikon EN-EL3 battery pack will be replaced free of charge within approximately 7 - 10 days of our receipt with a new EN-EL3a or a new EN-EL3e battery pack. The EN-EL3a and the EN-EL3e may be freely substituted for the EN-EL3 in all cases.
