Nice idea, but I'd like to see the skin of the fruit sharper - and I think a more yellow or greenish tone would feel fresher, the redness of this shot doesn't work for me.

Black line on the outer surface of the orange peel on the right side? What is that? Shadows?
Wonder how this would look without the rind...

Great concept, Alex. Agree with the comments above on execution. I think it's a bit shalow on DOF. A bit past the ring would do better, have the whole ring in focus.

The idea with the shallow DOF was to make the background more blurred.
I do believe I have the exactly same image with a smaller aparture though! :)
I'll try your tips next photoshop session.
