View Full Version : How Much Memory....??
I am getting ready to buy my d70s kit in feb. I noticed that there is not even a beginning memory card in the kit. How much memory should I be looking for. And should I have multiple smaller card or one big one.

i'd go with a few 1gb cards or a couple 2 gb cards. you don't want a 4gb card to fail on you after it's full. that's just my humble opinion though.

Brian, I would definitely recommend 1gig cards. And I would find out if D70 takes advantage of faster cards, too. I know 20D takes total advantage of the newer cards like Sandisk Extreme II, but I dont know if D70 does. If it does not, you can get away with cheaper cards, and if it does, I definitely recommend the Extreme II line. Great cards.
Sandisk Ultra II cards work extremely well for the D70. It's fast enough to maintain the bursts that you can snap with the camera. Using a couple of 2 GB cards myself.
Thanks for the info...I figure I will start getting some so that when I get the camera I will be ready. My Fuji unfortunately uses xD cards. I have a few 256meg card for it, each will hold 265 pictures at 4 megpix

I could definetly recommend the Sandisk II line too.
I use only one 1gig card.
But got my iPod yesterday, so not worries..that's like 30gigabyte with portable memory...
Well, actually only 23 considering there's some music.

Once you get up to 10MP+, you will start considering 4GB. I have 2 x 4GB, 2 x 1GB and portable 40GB harddrive. Always go out with the entire set. I can get only 200 RAW files on 4GB card :)
I don't think that I am going to be at 10+ MegPIx anytime soon. But thanks for the info.

good point Jay, that's another consideration i haven't though of.
Yup. That's one area where you'll definitely have to consider, especially with the D200 file sizes. I'm heading towards 4 GB if everything about that camera holds true.

Got just under 1GB CF cards, but it still is enough thanks to my 100GB Compact Drive PD70 :-) But I will try to sell the CF cards to a friend with a less soffisticated camera and get 1 GB ultra II cards.
