Congrats to Eric (Ibn) for winning the November General POTM contest with a breathtaking sunset photo.
Against great competition from Alan and Jay, I may add. It could have gone either way.
Now it is time for your DECEMBER submissions. We need your Real name, User name, Title, and photo (640 max on both sides) emailed to admin@aquatic-photography.com. Remember it's your last chance to get an entry into POTY Contest.

I'm so glad this one won. For me it was a clear winner and it got my top marks. I would be a happy bunny if I had this shot hanging on my wall.
Congratulations.

Thanks, all. :)
Alan's shot of the raptor had me sweating bullets, haha.

Congratulations Eric..a great shot that got my winning vote. I liked the contrast of the silouetted features with a magnificent sky.
Cheers
Rich
Thanks, Rich. Missed it the shot by a couple of minutes as the sky was even more fiery. Ran as fast as my legs would take me, but was still not enough.
Didn't see the shot until the sky lit up.

Saw the shot from across the ways and took off running hoping to catch it. Here's what it looked like right 5 minutes before that.

those two are excellent as well. the first one does have a very crooked horizon, or at least it looks like it judging by the waterline. the last one is very nice.

Very nice winning entry, well done. I personally would have marked it even higher if it didn't have the people in it.

Jason, I TOTALLY disagree. I think we've seen a ton of sunset shots, and while this was a great example, a sunset shot would not win. The subjects of the photo is what makes it "UNIQUE" and special. The outlines give it a point, beyond just a sunset. That is the "brilliant" part of the photo :) But, it's very subjective, to each its own.

Congrats Ibn! Beautiful sunset photo. :-)
Thanks, guys. :)
Interesting point that you bring up, Jason. I guess it really is subjective. I wanted the mother and child to be in the frame of the picture and part of the highlight of it, and this is one reason why I placed them in the lower third of the picture also. I felt that with that element in the frame, it would be a more impactful image. If I had felt otherwise, I would have entered the second or third shot instead, which I didn't. :)

The human interest made the shot for me, took it from being great to amazing. You wonder what they are talking about and imagine that they are sharing a really special moment. The picture is perfection as it is!
I think you made a good choice here Eric. It's a glorious looking sunset, and capturing a mother and child enjoying it together definitely sets this image apart from the others.

I found it very interesting to hear others comments on this subject.
Very subjective this photo business, isn't it! :)
